Edinburgh is buzzing just now as the Festival and Fringe take place in the streets and venues of this lovely city. Round every corner there are performers to entertain, and sometimes even amaze.
Many of the paid acts give taster sessions of their shows out on the streets - a great way to decide from the many thousands of shows which are the ones to see.
The core streets are blocked from traffic to give lots of space for crowds to gather, and for cafes and restaurants to spill their tables and chairs out into the open.

Performers from all around the globe make their way to the Edinburgh Festival and Fringe every year, and of course so do many from Scotland, like these two young pipers, too! It is a joy just to wander the streets at Festival time to take in all the sights and sounds.
These photos were taken in the fabulous Victoria Street, just up from the Grassmarket and near the Royal Mile.
All the main performance areas are a few minutes walk from our two luxury holiday apartments - the Botanist Apartment (formerly Parkgate Residence) and the Malt Kiln apartment (formerly McDonald Residence). Both are conveniently situated in lovely peaceful areas just next to the Royal Mile.
